EXPERIENCE WORLD CLASS BLUE WATER FISHNG with FRED STEYNBERG

The Republic of Mozambique is still one of Africa’s blue water gems in fly fishing terms and needs very little introduction.

This old Portuguese colony is situated in south eastern Africa below Tanzania and above South Africa.  It has a coastline that stretches 2450 km from north to south and a couple of amazing subtropical islands not too far off-shore.

Around the inner or mainland sides of some of these islands, the fish and aquatic life have for many years been harvested by the local population and fishing here is often poor, but on the outer side of the islands and off-shore from the mainland, sport fishing is still superb.

Linecasters’ guides have fished extensively around Inhaca Island, the Basaruto archipelago, Pemba/St Lazarus banks and Bassas da India over the past 15 years and in some areas have way- points and hotspots that very few fishermen know of.  We use a chartered Afri –cat to cruise around the Quirima archipelago and up to St Lazarus bank, a land based lodge on Inhaca Island with ski-boat for fishing and a combination of land based venues and Afri-cat charters around the Bazaruto archipelago.

Sailfish, marlin, dorado, yellowfin tuna, skip-jack tuna, bludgers, king and queen mackerel, GT’s, dogtooth tuna, yellowspot kingfish, big eyed kingfish, jobfish, prodigal son, wahoo and golden kingfish are only a few mentioned that can be caught on both fly and conventional tackle.
